Microdermabrasion is a type of facial that rejuvenates the skin by gentle exfoliation.

Microdermabrasion safely removes the upper layer (stratum corneum), revealing a smoother softer skin texture. Microdermabrasion is safe and effective for all skin complexions and all skin types.

Microdermabrasion is also recommended as a light exfoliate prior to microneedling or laser light therapy.

Equipment used for microdermabrasion:

  • Microdermabrasion machine with diamond crystal tips of various sizes that polishes away dead skin cells
  • A light vacuum suction that removes dead cells and debris

Microdermabrasion Benefits:

  • Allows skin treatment serums and creams to be effectively absorbed
  • Boost the effectiveness of medical-grade skin care products
  • Polishes the skin
  • Unclogs pores such as blackheads
  • Increases blood circulation to the skin
  • Promotes skin cell turnover

How often should you receive microdermabrasion treatments depends on your skin concerns and goals. We recommend 4-6 treatments every 2-3 weeks for the best results.

Microdermabrasion treatments performed on a routine basis will lead to:

  • Improvements in skin texture
  • Even pigmentation
  • Decreased pore size
  • Improvement in the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and acne scars
  • Stimulation of collagen and elastin

Microdermabrasion should be avoided in clients with the following skin conditions:

  • Rosacea
  • Skin cancer
  • Active cold sores
  • Recent chemical peel or skin resurfacing
  • Accutane use within the past six months
  • Open skin lesions
  • Dermatitis
  • Irritated or inflamed skin
  • Recent sun exposure
  • Thin skin

In addition to the above contraindications for microdermabrasion, it is recommended that Retin-A or other forms of Vitamin A products be discontinued 3 days prior to treatment.

Microdermabrasion Precautions:

  • Discontinue exfoliation products three days prior to microdermabrasion
  • Microdermabrasion can be done safely 6 months after discontinuing Accutane
